International Contact Featured On Comcast Newsmakers

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 16, 2009 – As the country struggles to recover from the economic downturn, government agencies and corporations seek to assist consumers in dealing with the difficulties they face. Many of those most affected, unaware that free trustworthy resources are available, are fleeced by scam artists who prey upon those who turn to them in desperation.
To warn consumers against further losses and inform them about the availability of free, trustworthy help, government agencies and other organizations that provide these services turn to International Contact to translate the information into over 100 languages.
Comcast Newsmakers invited Norma Armon and Carla Itzkowich from International Contact, Inc. to discuss what free resources available in various languages in this one-take public access spot.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukow598Scxc&layer_token=f ...

The 5 minute spot ran in the Bay Area during the month of May and produced some calls from consumers who saw it and wanted information on opening a bank account or getting energy-efficient appliances.
Currently International Contact is helping the Unity Council provide foreclosure prevention and support seminars to English and Spanish speakers; the City of Richmond has just launched a new foreclosure assistance web site that is available in Spanish. Health research for Action at UC Berkeley is creating Medi-Cal handbooks in 10 languages to help the elderly and PG&E has language assistance in 6 languages for their Energy partners program.
Should your resource be listed on their “Resource Link” page?

To help direct the traffic generated by their appearance and since they do not provide the assistance directly, International Contact has started a resource page: http://www.intlcontact.com/pages/resource.html
"Although it isn't much yet," says Norma Armon, "it could become truly helpful as we promote it to all our clients and anyone who offers valuable low cost or free services to help people."
International Contact, Inc.  encourages anyone who fits that profile to contact them.

American shock-jock Savage Appoints PHA Media

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 16, 2009 – PHA Media has been appointed to handle the PR for American shock-jock, Michael Savage.

Savage has been banned from entering the UK by Labour Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith who claims that he incites violence and hatred in-line with his ‘extremist’ views.

The DJ was quickly slapped with a ban from entering the country and joins the likes of Jewish Militant Mike Guzovsky, Russian Skin-head gang leader Artur Ryno and American Baptist pastor Fred Waldron Phelps.

Michael Savage was stunned by the Home Office decision and now plans to sue for defamation.  PHA Media are working alongside Savage’s law team, Olswang LLP, who believe they have a strong case to over-turn the ban.

Savage has never sought entry to the UK nor did he have any plans to visit.  London Mayor Boris Johnson was staggered by Jacqui Smith’s decision and has spoken out in defence of the American DJ: “It is shocking that not a single MP has stood up to defend free speech”.

Michael Savage, who until recently was relatively unknown in the UK, hosts The Savage Nation, which is the third most popular show in America.

London PR Agency, PHA Media are Reputation Management specialists and are excited to be working with such a formidable man.

Phil Taylor, a Senior Consultant at PHA Media said: “Michael has asked us to help in any way we can in order to get the ban removed.  We have already managed to put his case to the national press and the BBC and as a result, Michael has received over-whelming support from the British public”.

For any press enquiries in relation to this campaign please contact Phil Taylor at PHA Media:

Crime Novelist, Caregiver Put God, Mother Teresa, and Humor Into New Cancer Book

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 08, 2009 – Fort Worth, TX – Cancer survivor, healthcare provider, and budding crime novelist Howard F. Clarke, at the request of his wife, diverted from a planned Christian thriller and instead developed a book aimed at the newly diagnosed cancer patient.  But, in return, he insisted his wife—Howard’s caregiver during his recent fight with non-Hodgkin’s  Lymphoma—include her journal writings to offer the reader differing viewpoints of the same experience.
“With cancer directly affecting one-in-three of us,” Howard said, “there are a lot of concerns, fears, and misunderstandings about what the fight against cancer entails…especially the whole chemotherapy thing.  I read the touching memoirs, recently, of others who succumbed to cancer, one a journalist and the other a professor and, while their stories were meaningful and left a legacy to their families, they were legacies devoid of an after-life certainty or a here-and-now faith in God.  It reflects a sad drifting away from faith common to our society.   Leaving God out of a cancer struggle…well, that’s a tough road to travel.  I recommend a different approach.”
But, as he points out in the new book, “WHEN CANCER COMES YOUR WAY: A COUPLE’S GUIDE TO FINDING HOPE & KEEPING THE FAITH,” even Mother Theresa struggled with her faith.  “In the book, I talk about these things and how even Mother Theresa felt she was alone, but nevertheless, she pressed on.”  He goes on, in the book, to describe what has been described as the “dark night of the soul,” and ties this to how the cancer patient may feel when things get tough.
Beverley Clarke, the book’s co-author, describes her role as caregiver and offers both inspirational and very practical guides to cancer coping.  Each chapter has a type of “helpful” tips section and there are appendices referring the patient to useful resources, but the mainstay of the book is a journey through cancer told simultaneously from the patient viewpoint and from the journal of the caregiver in frank and touching terms.
“My detective novel (to be released later this year) took a back seat to this project—and for good reason.  Cancer is the modern plague, affecting just about everyone I talk to, and perhaps this book will help folks out there.  My novel can wait.  Cancer doesn’t wait for anyone.”
For more information and to order the just-released book, “WHEN CANCER COMES YOUR WAY,” go to the author’s publishing page, https://www.createspace.com/3362214, his personal web site: http://www.howardfclarke.com, or check with Amazon.com in the next few weeks for the official release.

Extending Publishing Systems Through Scripting Adds To The Total Cost of Ownership

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 02, 2009 – The IT Enquirer (http://www.it-enquirer.com), a leading information resource for cross-channel publishers, announces the availability of a new free analysis on the scripting capabilities and costs of certain editorial workflow and publishing systems.
A lot of less performing publishing system vendors claim scripting isn't a big deal. They tell their customers it doesn't add much to the cost of the system as a whole.
"A lot of customers of editorial workflow systems were bitten by the cost of scripting, no matter what these vendors claim," said Erik Vlietinck at IT Enquirer. "It is not efficient, and it is a point solution. If you want to extend your system so it will integrate with a project management system installed at your enterprise, for example, the integration itself will only hold as long as both systems remain the same. If the project management system (even point updates can ruin an integration) or the publishing system is changed, a new expensive round of programming is required."
According to the author, systems that only can be extended to fit a publisher's needs by scripting or programming should be avoided.
Systems which allow functionality to be extended and expanded through built-in workflow and action tools are much more flexible and less costly to implement and run, concludes the IT Enquirer free analysis.
The analysis has recommendations for system buyers.
