Sylvia Brody, Ph.D., a distinguished psychoanalyst and developmental researcher, came to prominence with her books documenting her observational, clinical, and theoretical studies on maternal behavior and child development. THE POWER AND MIRACLE OF PRAYER: Jesus Teaches About Praying: Humility & Repentance (Luke 18: 9-14)

In the name of God Master, of the Universe, Ruler of the earth
Editors Note: I pray not for self but for all of humankind as I call out the name of self as a willing and humble servant. In an earnest and humble posture we seek repentance from sin for this is the way to Peace and Paradise.


Greetings Brethren,
Peace be unto you. To the Church and believing Christians everywhere. To those that believe in the Bible as the supreme authority that governs all of humankind. In this we give thanks to God the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit that leads and guides us the straightway.
As we continue in the 18th Division of Luke we now note the parable by Jesus of the two men who prayed. These men came to prayer in repentance and humility. Meanwhile some have come to prayer with a pompous attitude that is not pleasing to God.
Luke 18: 9: “And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:”

These people “trusted in themselves” because they considered themselves to be righteous as they boasted about their great deeds. Meanwhile they came to despise others who could not boast of the great things they had done.  Now follow us over to Romans for an additional scripture reference on this point.
Romans 14: 10: In this Chapter the Apostle Paul teaches the brethren about weak and strong believers. Strong believers do not boast and put down other believers nor do they come with malice toward the nonbelievers. However we hate sin. “But why dost thou judge thou brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we all shall stand before the judgment seat of Christ.”
10: “Two men went up in the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.”

The two men although of different perspectives were both acting normal as they went into the temple to pray. (See Isaiah 56:7 and Matthew 21: 13 for more on this thought).
11: “The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.”(The outward actions of the Jews are noted at Isaiah 58: 2 also see Matthew 6: 5).  Now follow us to Revelation for a powerful scripture reference on the main points in verse 11.
Revelation 3: 17: Here John writes about the church that was lukewarm. “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:”

John the writer here in this verse attempts to show us just how much a church can become deceived about its real condition. This can also happen to an individual. Temporal things are just temporary. Meanwhile we see that often material possessions can mis-lead the church or an individual into thinking they are independent or self-sufficient. There is nothing wrong with independence and doing for self. However when one thinks they don’t need God and Christ there is a problem.
12: “I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.”

Verses 11 and 12 reveal the prayer of the Pharisee. Here he did not include a single request from God. Even if his claims were true his prayer is still not acceptable to God. Because he only boasts about his great deeds. Prayer is not the place for boasting. It is written that God already knows of all of our deeds. Thus we need not remind God of these things. But making requests in faith are honorable in prayer.
13: “And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.” (Also see Psalms 40: 12 also see Acts 3:1 where we see a further indication of the many people in the temple during the hour of prayer).

Meanwhile the publican in modesty stood away from the crowd. He realizes the feelings the Pharisees had for his people. However he classed himself with the sinners and prayed for mercy.


14: “I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for everyone that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” (Also see James 4: 6 and I Peter 5: 5-6).

Those that are justified humble themselves to God. Therefore if the publican was not justified no one in the verse was exalted. Follow us over to Job for an additional thought on those that humble themselves before the Lord.
Job 22: 29: “When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.”

The acknowledgement of sins in verses 24-30  renders a blessing from God. We thus are taught to confess our sins in prayer and remain humble in prayer thus pleasing God.
At Matthew 23: 12 we see another scripture that relates to our discussion. We also note that a similar scriptural passage is found at Luke 14: 11. “And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”

Those that strive for humility and to serve others as we come this way  realize that service and  work for the Lord is honorable. Meanwhile those that strive and desire the things of the world will be brought down by the Lord. Thus those that humble themselves will get a blessing. We look to God in adoration and supplication confessing our sins in reverence and in faith.

Michael Sharp is Professor of Worship Studies in the Division of Church Music of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He received his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University. My Beloved Brethren Peace be unto you. We still come with a report on the blind that run amuck throughout the land and country. We thank Almighty God the miracle worker who allows us to see across the room. We also see things deep near and far in the forest. We can also see many lands from the mountain top. However all can witness the miracle of sight if they might.(21 July 2009)


The speaker had become accustomed

to those that cast dark, grey ugly

shadows and wicked, tainted arrows

upon and against things they had not

concluded, confirmed are believed was

true.
A battle hardened solider found joy

in his agony, pain and times of weary

was a fact of the sojourn as his time

here ain’t long.
These feelings were no doubt to some the reflections

of a dream. However the dreamer knew

that these vivid dreams would come true.
Just what was dreamscape? There was

also dream world and dreamland. However

he escaped from nothing as man cast all

things to the dogs as they crucified everything

in sight.
Meanwhile there were undaunted visions

as the visionary souls prepared for the great

homegoing.
They saw the great times of old transcending

into the present as nothing was new. The future

then logically also made the transition.

The wise saw this great Triune. However the

foolish only saw today.

The Power And Miracle Of Prayer: Praying With A Clean & Pure Heart

Writer’s Note: Beloved the Lord is merciful and His patience is for everlasting. However there are times among the saints when we need to wait. Pray in patience as we trust in the Lord. Let not your hearts be troubled as we believe in Him. We thus pray that our hearts your heart will come making sincere requests. The promise is written that God will hear a sincere prayer.  Therefore we pray to always petition the throne of God with a clean and pure heart. How do we do this?
Greetings Brethren,
Peace be unto you. To the Church and believing Christians everywhere. To those that believe in the Bible as the supreme authority that governs all of humankind. In this we give thanks to God the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit that leads and guides us the straightway.
My beloved brethren there is power in prayer. So as we look to the Bible we are encouraged to continue our prayer life not ceasing in our petitions to God. This discussion on the heart is noted as a very important aspect or personal requirement of prayer. As you know as you grow in Truth the heart is very important and a center piece of our sojourn. God can see the heart however man can only look on the outside. Therefore if our heart is right we can reap salvation and be saved to life everlasting.
Also it is written that the heart which houses the Spirit is the only thing that the arisen saints can take with them as they come before the judgment and when the body stops life and breath as we know it on this side. The heart is wonderful. We also bear witness that as it moves in purity no one can exploit, mis-use or abuse the righteous at heart. Thus God will protect us from all harm and danger as we stay in prayer. Meanwhile our primary scripture reference for praying with a clean and pure heart is taken from Psalms 66. Our primary verses are 18 and 19 however box in this bracket of scripture with 17 and 20 and get a powerful message.
Psalms 66: 17-20: “I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.”
“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:”
“But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.”
“Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.”
The first and second verse at the 66th Division of Psalms is a scriptural passage that most believers have often heard. “Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:”

“Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.”
Therefore brethren we should praise and honor God in so doing He will answer our prayers. So as we come to the Lord in prayer we come with a clean and pure heart. No one has a heart that is perfect and pure however we can come without dwelling on the world and the evils of society. Thus our thoughts our mind as we petition God should be on Jesus and His goodness, peace and love.
As we speak the mouth and tongue are used. Therefore there is a variety in our use of the language to express our desires to the Lord. So as we express our needs we must have a heart free of iniquity and things that are evil and wicked. The Lord will not hear the prayers of those that are filled with hate and things that contradict love and compassion for all of God’s people.  At verse 19 we see that David was not guilty of iniquity.  God heard and granted his prayer. The blessings of God are seen in the knowledge that He was the source of David’s blessings.  God moved in mercy in times of trouble for David and He will move in this mode for all that come to Him with a clean and pure heart.
Also a good cross reference to verse 18 is Psalms 18: 41: “They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the Lord, but he answered them not.”
Also verse 19 is benefited by a cross reference found at Psalms 116: 1-2: “I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.”
“Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.”
Brethren it is for sure that the Lord will hear the voice of the clean and pure heart. Here He heard David and He granted His requests. This favor of course produced a great love of God.  This favor led to David calling upon God again. He was encouraged in his love and the mercy of God. Nor was his mind filled with the distractions of man as the human element gave way to the Creation and the inspirations from within. Glory to God.
All great thinkers chose to remain aloof from

the common plan and things normal. Somehow

they just failed to fret over things the world claimed.

Nor did they give great thought as to why.
To them most of what the world called normal

was an abnormal reality that was real as the

day and nights in which they lived. No one was

mad except the multitudes that frowned on Truth.
They cared little for the sweet things material that

the world carried up in lust. As what they needed

was quite simple and all the rest was too heavy. Why

rush for diamonds and pearls while food was wasted?
These times were also not as silent as the outsiders

thought. I saw John talking with the birds and having

counsel with the fleeing rabbits and squirrels. He also

saw the light of the moon as more than just romantic

dreams.
No one called me out at night. I found my own

place there I sat and was never alone although many

of the world saw no one but me. But who could

capture solitude alone?

Author releases book about his career in the fishing industry – Trawlers and Trawler Folk

American shock-jock Savage Appoints PHA Media

Savage has been banned from entering the UK by Labour Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith who claims that he incites violence and hatred in-line with his ‘extremist’ views.

Crime Novelist, Caregiver Put God, Mother Teresa, and Humor Into New Cancer Book

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 08, 2009 – Fort Worth, TX – Cancer survivor, healthcare provider, and budding crime novelist Howard F. Clarke, at the request of his wife, diverted from a planned Christian thriller and instead developed a book aimed at the newly diagnosed cancer patient.  But, in return, he insisted his wife—Howard’s caregiver during his recent fight with non-Hodgkin’s  Lymphoma—include her journal writings to offer the reader differing viewpoints of the same experience.
“With cancer directly affecting one-in-three of us,” Howard said, “there are a lot of concerns, fears, and misunderstandings about what the fight against cancer entails…especially the whole chemotherapy thing.  I read the touching memoirs, recently, of others who succumbed to cancer, one a journalist and the other a professor and, while their stories were meaningful and left a legacy to their families, they were legacies devoid of an after-life certainty or a here-and-now faith in God.  It reflects a sad drifting away from faith common to our society.   Leaving God out of a cancer struggle…well, that’s a tough road to travel.  I recommend a different approach.”
But, as he points out in the new book, “WHEN CANCER COMES YOUR WAY: A COUPLE’S GUIDE TO FINDING HOPE & KEEPING THE FAITH,” even Mother Theresa struggled with her faith.  “In the book, I talk about these things and how even Mother Theresa felt she was alone, but nevertheless, she pressed on.”  He goes on, in the book, to describe what has been described as the “dark night of the soul,” and ties this to how the cancer patient may feel when things get tough.
Beverley Clarke, the book’s co-author, describes her role as caregiver and offers both inspirational and very practical guides to cancer coping.  Each chapter has a type of “helpful” tips section and there are appendices referring the patient to useful resources, but the mainstay of the book is a journey through cancer told simultaneously from the patient viewpoint and from the journal of the caregiver in frank and touching terms.
“My detective novel (to be released later this year) took a back seat to this project—and for good reason.  Cancer is the modern plague, affecting just about everyone I talk to, and perhaps this book will help folks out there.  My novel can wait.  Cancer doesn’t wait for anyone.”

Extending Publishing Systems Through Scripting Adds To The Total Cost of Ownership

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 02, 2009 – The IT Enquirer (http://www.it-enquirer.com), a leading information resource for cross-channel publishers, announces the availability of a new free analysis on the scripting capabilities and costs of certain editorial workflow and publishing systems.
A lot of less performing publishing system vendors claim scripting isn't a big deal. They tell their customers it doesn't add much to the cost of the system as a whole.
"A lot of customers of editorial workflow systems were bitten by the cost of scripting, no matter what these vendors claim," said Erik Vlietinck at IT Enquirer. "It is not efficient, and it is a point solution. If you want to extend your system so it will integrate with a project management system installed at your enterprise, for example, the integration itself will only hold as long as both systems remain the same. If the project management system (even point updates can ruin an integration) or the publishing system is changed, a new expensive round of programming is required."
According to the author, systems that only can be extended to fit a publisher's needs by scripting or programming should be avoided.
Systems which allow functionality to be extended and expanded through built-in workflow and action tools are much more flexible and less costly to implement and run, concludes the IT Enquirer free analysis.
